Conference Overview

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) 2007 Pacific/Northwest Region Joint Education and Training Conference will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska from 27 February through 2 March 2007. The theme of the conference is “Tropics to Tundra: Spanning the Pacific”. The conference will provide thought-provoking guest speakers, interesting technical programs, the opportunity to network with participants, and several entertaining social events.

Parking

Please note that parking in downtown Anchorage will be at a premium during the conference. Below are some ideas for parking. Use of valet parking may be the best option for all day parking.

• Self-parking is available in adjacent parking lots at a cost of $8 per day
• Valet parking is available at the hotel entrance at a cost of $14 per day
• Metered parking is available on adjacent streets, albietempty spaces are rare, and is enforced Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
• For Anchorage residents, use of taxis from your home or business to the Hilton may be a good option to consider

IFMA CFM Exam Review Course

SAME, in conjunction with the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), is offering a review course for the Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) exam at a specially-reduced rate for SAME and IFMA members. This course is offered in conjunction with (but prior to) the regional conference.

Conference Committee Meetings

General meetings will be now held every Wednesday until further notice. Weekly meetings are scheduled from 11:30 to 1:30 pm at URS's conference room.

During Conference Banquet:

• Civilian – Business attire
• Air Force/Navy/Coast Guard: Service Dress
• Army: Class A

During Other Conference Events:

• Civilian - Business casual dress
• All Military - Duty uniform ('Blues' for USAF, Class B for Army; no BDUs please!)
